If you are an old MobileMe subscriber, you must have got one of these emails, and if you are not really tech savvy enough to make out the difference between a legit email and a scam, you would have even replied to this. But now, if you have not yet, time to wake up readers.

The MobileMe email scam has been spreading like anything from the last few days and already a lot of people have have fallen victim for this. You will get an email telling you that your MobileMe drive has been infected by virus and the service people will need your password to set this right.

But do not give your password away, this is not at all legit and will open up the whole of your MobileMe, now iCloud account to the hackers, or spammer. You will find the email that you are supposed to get below. This is one of the emails that one MobileMe subscriber has got from a spammer.

So be careful, do not reply to this. Just delete the email and get back to your work without worry.

The holiday season is almost here (Happy Holidays!) so we realize everyone is busy (especially @pod2g!). And even though we always recommend that jailbreakers stay where they are until a new untethered JB comes out, that’s not always possible. So we’ve updated redsn0w for those who may have found themselves at iOS 5.0.1, and added some other useful features too:

native support for 5.0.1 (no need to point redsn0w at 5.0 IPSW or use command-line args). Support automatically extends to all of redsn0w’s various functions: “Jailbreak”, “Just boot”, “Fetch blobs”, “Stitch blobs”, “Recovery Fix”

iBooks fixed in 5.0 and 5.0.1. This is a targeted fix that doesn’t remove entire sandbox mechanism. 5.x users already using redsn0w “Just Boot” can just use the new version without redoing entire jailbreak again

3GS old-bootrom owners can now create custom IPSWs without blobs

ultrasn0w compatability update (i.e. same baseband requirements) for 5.0.1 will be available on Cydia Monday

Owners of newer 3GS iPhones must not flash the iPad baseband. The iPad baseband will not work on 3GS iPhones built later than 2011 week 35.

This is still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.

If you have updated your iPhone or iPad 2 to the latest iOS 5.0 and are stuck with it with no untethered jailbreak, you would have thought about going back to a world of untethered jailbreak even if it meant you will have to lose the awesome notification center and the other features on the iOS 5. If your answer is yes, there is a tool which will let you downgrade to iOS 4.3.3 so that you have the chance to have an untethered jailbreak on your iPhone or iPad 2 again. And that tool is the new Tiny CFW.

Tiny CFW comes from creator of another popular tool, Tiny Umbrella, who is Not Com. Tiny CFW uses the SHSH Blobs that you have saved from your iPhone or iPad 2 and then downgrades to the older iOS 4.3.3. After this, you can use any of the other tools to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad 2, an untethered jailbreak this time.

The developer, Not Com, explains:

“TinyCFW is a simple tool I put together for a friend of mine. He has an iPad 2 GSM and has his 4.3.3 SHSH but since Apple is no longer signing 4.3.3, it isn’t possible to downgrade to 4.3.3 without getting stuck in a 1015 recovery loop.

• It will modify an existing IPSW for an iPad 2 GSM/CDMA or iPhone 4 GSM/CDMA
• It WILL modify the IPSW to update your baseband to the latest
• It will create an IPSW that you can use with TinyUmbrella AND iTunes to restore to a version of iOS that you have SHSHs for
• It is primarily for iPad 2 with a baseband OR iPhone 4.

One exciting, and some times annoying, thing about the launch of a new Apple product is the number of rumors that surround it before the product is officially launched. And the rumored iPad 3 is no different. We have seen a lot of rumors about the iPad 3. And here is one more. But 99.9% of the times, the rumors are not really true, and remain rumors for ever.

The new rumor is a leaked product, which is supposed to be the microphone flex cable used in the new iPad 3. This news has been leaked on the popular Cydia blog. And it seems like a lot of people are excited about the leak and the product as well. The leaked microphone flex cable is also on sale on TVC Mall.

“The new part, when compared with iPad 2, shows a different arrangement in internal circuitry, hinting at a major re-design. The tail end of the part makes a “U-turn”, whereas the iPad 2′s Microphone Mic Flex Cable makes almost 90-degree turn both ways. Except for few details, the leaked part so far doesn’t offer a tantalizing tease.”

But a new internal product in an iPad does not have to mean that the external appearance of the iPad 3 will change, or will have new external features, right? Apple may keep the look and feel of the iPad 3 same as that on the iPad 2, but add new features inside. We can not be completely sure of this till we see an official image or hear it from a company representative officially.

But I guess we will sure see these pretty soon. What do you think?

It has been exactly a month since the Cupertino based tech giant, Apple, released the iTunes Match service in the United States of America. The iTunes Match is a service which matches the songs you have and suggests more songs of the same kind. You may then get their preview of something and then buy the song if you would like to.

Till now, the service has received rather mixed reviews. A lot of people are immensely impressed with the service where as almost an equal lot of people are immensely angry on the service. But nonetheless, a lot of them are using the service. Apple has now started sending emails to early adopters who had registered for the notifications that the service is now available in their countries as well. The list has now grown from just United States to include Canada, Australia, Europe, and the United Kingdom.

Users in Canada, Australia, and Europe are reportedly receiving emails from Apple that iTunes Match is officially available in their areas. Prices for each region are being reported as such:

• “Australia – AU $34.99/year
• Canada – CAD $27.99/year
• Europe – €24.99/year
• UK – £21.99/year”

It  has not been very long since we got our hands on the new iOS 5.0.1, and there is already a very positive word about the untethered jailbreak for the OS. This is an exciting news from the developer and hacker pod2g, who has been in affiliation with the Cronic Dev Team. In the last few weeks, this particular developer has seen a lot of progress in his attempts to exploit the new iOS 5.0.1 for an untethered jailbreak.

The developer and hacker pod2g has been updating his blog regularly and has been telling the progress of the hack, and according to his latest update, the hack that he has been using has already started working on Apple's iDevices running on the A4 processor, which is a bit old. So not all the devices are supported right now by this hack.

The developer has already demonstrated this working hack on an iPod Touch fourth generation, and it works properly. The iPhone 4, which is now the second latest iPhone, is also included in this list of supported devices along with iPad (first generation), the iPod touch 4G, iPhone 3GS and the Apple TV. Below is what his latest update says:

“iPad 1 5.0.1 untethered code is done, testing tomorrow with a friend’s device. Just to let you know my progress in real time. iPhone 3GS 5.0.1 untethered code is done. Testing tomorrow also! iPod 4G 5.0.1 untethered too !  ). Apple TV 2 4.43 untethered done also. Will be able to test in some days.”

This can mean only one thing. As soon as this guy finishes his testing, we will be having untethered iPhones and iPad, even iPod Touches. This is just a matter of time now. But what about the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S which run on the new A5 processor? No word on this actually.

Anyway, the Cupertino based tech giant did win a few of these court room battles. The company was able to bring bans to the sales of Samsung's tablets in countries including Australia and Europe. But now, it looks like Apple is no more able to convince the commissions that Samsung has copied anything. The ban on sales of Samsung Galaxy Tab has been removed already in Australia in Europe.

And Samsung had clearly said that Apple's iPad design is just the natural evolution of the tablet PC. The company also argues that there is tons of evidence of prior art (pre-existing designs) to Apple’s tablet. We have seen what Apple had actually suggested Samsung to make the changes to the devices so that they do not infringe any patents. If you do not know what these suggestions were, they are as given below:

• Overal shape that isn’t rectangular, or doesn’t have round corners.
• Thick frames rather than a thin rim around the front surface.
• Front surface that isn’t entirely flat.
• Profiles that aren’t thin.
• Cluttered appearance.
• Front surface that isn’t black.

Guys over at Gizmodo have made a mock up of what the Galaxy Tab would have looked like, and this one for sure is an ugly tablet. How did the people at Apple even think that Samsung would agree to something like this?

The battle between Apple and Samsung is nothing new to us in the blogosphere. We have been writing about it for months, and you have been reading about it for months. But recently, since Samsung started winning some of the patent battles legally around the world, the company has been flying around with new spirits. One of the proof of this is new line of TV commercials that the Korean based Samsung has been airing recently. And now, there is a new one called "Movies and Music."

By the name of it, you can pretty much be sure that this commercial is aimed directly at the iTunes and iCloud that Apple offers. But what do they show in this new TV commercial? Just like in the old one, a few people are waiting in a queue in front of a (Apple) store and waiting for the store to open and start the sales. Just then, a man walks byline of people with a Samsung Galaxy SII in his hand, listening to music.

Three people in the queue catch him and ask him what he is doing with a Samsung. This is when he explains that he has everything he needs right in his hand and he doesn't have to wait in queues like them to get another good smartphone. He says, “Well I have all my playlists right here, my music streams from the cloud, and I have tons of places to buy my movies.”

That is a direct move on the iTunes and the iCloud that Apple offers. What do you think? Will Samsung be in any way successful with this kind of ads?

Are you a sky diver? Or a bungee jumper? Or do you do something which involves you being at great heights and looking down below at midget-like people from 10,000 feet high? Well, you would probably not be carrying your iPhone when you go up there, right? The thought of dropping something such as an iPhone  from that great height is not a good thought. And sure at least one of you has for sure dropped their iPhone from a certain height and caused a damage. But there is a product now which could keep your iPhone safe even if your bungee jumping, and it is the new Kenu Highline.

The Kenu Highline is made of out of kevlar, the same material used in making bullet proof vests and jackets. The loop and the hook no the Kenu High line are made up of kevlar which means that your iPhone is in good grip. But is the Kenu Highline safer than leaving your iPhone in your back pack down on the ground when you are going up tens of thousands o feet above ground level to drop from there? Well, think about it.

So, the Kenu Highline attaches to your iPhone or other iDevices, as you can see from the video below, at the 30 pin dock connector at the bottom of the iPhone. This is how the Kenu Highline stops your iPhone from dropping thousands of feet below at the hard ground. But is the 30 pin dock connector the best place to hold on to your iPhone at such great heights? Do you not think that a case in which you could have put the iPhone and suspend the case from the Kenu Highline a bit more logical?

Anyway, if you are impressed, you just have to spend $20 on this and your iPhone is somewhat safe. All the best with  your next dive!

Most of us know evernote as the friendly app that lets us store whatever info we want, web pages that we want to go through later when we have time, or just that thing which you wanted to do later. But now, the company has two new apps for the iPhone which lets you do a bit more than just makes your notes. Evernote Hello and Evernote Food are the apps I'm referring to. The app will you remember the new people you meet and the new food you ate in that new restaurant.

Evernote Hello lets you save the details of all the new people you meet. This way, even if you forget to call that person who offered a great price for your old car, you can refer an app in your iPhone and get the great deal. So how does it work? You just save the person's name and phone number as a note? No, actually, you give your smartphone to that person and that person will fill out a small form which will have all his details like name, contact number, email address, etc., and if the person is okay with it, he or she can even save a photo in the app for you. Hmm...

Then, the Evernote Food app not only lets you note down the name of the food you ate, but it will also let you remember the restaurant where you ate that food and take a photo of it. Is not that awesome? However there some doubt. iDB says:

Both apps have been borne out of things that people have been using the old Evernote app for since its initial release. Whether we really need separate apps, we’re not sure, but if you have a specific need for either Evernote Hello or Evernote Food, then we’re sure you’ll like either.
